Definitely do yourself a favor and walk up to the Hotel Okaan restaurant. It wasn't overly busy, but the grounds were very nice, the equipment new and well maintained, and all of it was very economical. The ladies had a similar experience on horseback, though different trails. Senor Marin was our guide and took us on about a 45 min ride back on some nice but tame trails, showed us some various protected mayan ruins (this backs up to Chichen Itza) and told us some great stories about the area. My 17 year old son and I chose the ATV's, while my wife and 15 year old daughter wanted to do the horse ride. Its co-located with the Hotel Okaan property, which we wish we'd found instead of the place we stayed! We were greeted at the gate by a nice gentleman who explained the various adventure opportunities, which included horse back riding, ATV trails, along with a couple of other things. It was a bit back in the woods, but once you got to the site it was very impressive. While driving to Merida, we saw the sign and pulled in on a whim. We will definitely use Wanderlum Tours fo.We had looked at Chichen Park online, but there was scant information so didn't pre-book anything. Actix Park and Iglesia de Jesus are located 1.2 miles and 1.5 miles from Residence Inn By Marriott Merida respectively. After the tour Rosbel even followed up with us to see how we enjoyed the tour and to see how we were feeling after such an adventure and we where feeling absolutely amazing. The cave it's self was an amazing experience and very different from the cave tours that we have done in the United States. The tour guide Julio and the translator Aundreas taught us so much about the town of Takeh, the mayan traditions and culture, we even learned about the natural wild life along the way to the cave.

He has such a strong and genuine appreciation for nature and Mayan tradition that I found myself appreciating the natural beauty of the Yucatan much more. If you've ever had a teacher or college professor who was so passionate about the subject that they were teaching that they made you eager to learn more about that subject, then you'll know what Pedro is like. The gastronomic experience was held at a small eco resort dedicated to Mayan tradition and led by a man named Pedro. She speaks very good English and was more than happy to answer questions we had regarding both the gastronomic experience and the rest of our stay in Mexico.
